The Dangers of Rubbing Alcohol

Oh what a night Jay and I had last night. But before I can get to that, I need to start this story from earlier in the day.

I woke up just fine yesterday nothing wrong with me. At around 11 - 11:30 I was getting ready for work. My left shoulder started to hurt. Felt a little bit like a pinched nerve. I favored it a little bit, and continued getting ready. As my day went on, with no heavy lifting or anything strenuous, my arm proceeded to get worse. I went home at 4, took one of Jay's Vicodin, he'd been given some 2 weeks ago to deal with the bad infection from his cavity, and rested till 5:30. Then I had to go back to work for a store meeting at 6. I told Jay if my arm got worse we'd have to go in and have it looked it. I won't get into the long details of my pain, but lets just say up until that hour, I was able to hold my arms in at least one comfortable position, with no pain at all. But by the time we were done at 7, I was close to tears, and in a great deal of pain no matter what I did. I was shivering from the pain it was so bad. Jay had picked me up, he'd drove since I'd taken a pain killer, and as soon as I got into the car I told him I needed to go into the ER. He took me straight there. On our way in I called mom and let her know what was going on, and then Cassie.

After we got there and I registered, we didn't have to wait long before I was called in. The triage *sp* nurse was a bitch because I didn't happen to know the fucking name of my birth control pills *eyeroll*. Then she was gonna take us to room 5 but as we were just entering one of the guys back there said he had an emergency rolling into that room from the ambulance, so we were just shifted over into the room next to that, just when the guy was being brought in.

As we sat and waited to be seen, we could hear the guy in the next room talking. Clearly drunk, very harsh coarse voice, he was a bit of an older guy, probably in his 60's. He was arguing with the nurses and stuff, he didn't want something or other. Then a little later the nurse came back into his room. I guess he'd been complain that he couldn't breath. She argued with him, and it turned out he "couldn't breathe" because of the reason he was in there. She said if he REALLY couldn't breathe, that she'd sedate him and give him a breathing apparatus. He said that he could breath but it FELT like he couldn't and she told him "Then do not claim you can't breathe. we take that very seriously here." So at some point the guy's daughter showed up, and she is on the side with the Dr.'s and nurses and stuff, arguing with him as well. Then another guy finally came in and started asking questions. We kept hearing the old guy say "I! DIDN'T! MEAN! TO!"

It turns out he was so fucking drunk, he wasn't paying attention to what he was drinking and wound up drinking part of a bottle of rubbing alcohol! He was talking about his throat hurting and he couldn't breath and the nurses kept telling him they can't give him something to drink right now but if he stopped talking his saliva would formulate and go down his throat and help to open his airways, but of course, being drunk he wouldn't shut up for anything.

All of this took place over roughly 4 hours while Jay and I were waiting between visits to our room. So in the meanwhile, I was visited, asked questions, and had the RN or whoever move my arm around, in a few painful locations. Then the nurse came in and he put an IV into my forearm, and gave me morphine. My stomach was empty so that made me feel even more hungry. Right as he was finishing up the two people came to take me and get x-rays. That was okayish, no pain except for one way I had to move my arm that brought tears to my eyes.

An HOUR after my x rays, the Dr. himself finally came in and saw me. He said my X-rays said I was just fine, and from how I'd reacted when my arm had been examined, what I had is something called Nerve Entrapment.

According to Right Health . com... "Nerve entrapment syndromes pertain to medical conditions wherein the nerves become entrapped or restricted in certain areas of the extremities. To decompress the nerves, surgery can be performed on the affected area. Neurosurgeons, orthopedic doctors and plastic surgeons are the medical professional that performs such surgeries. The syndromes manifests with pain of the nerves or with loss of function in the nerves. Nerve Entrapment Syndromes occur when nerves sustain chronic injury usually from stressful or repeated trauma."

I would have to see the Orthopedic doctor, we had the choice of waiting that night to see him or I could call today and make an appointment. We would have waited, but there were a couple of case a head of me, including someone with a dislocated hip or slipped hip or SOMETHING like that. And there was something else a head of us too so they had no clue how much longer we'd be waiting. We'd been there just over 3 hours already. So we decided to go with the sling and just call the ortho today. He was going to prescribe me Vicodin, a sling and 3 days from work.

It took just over an hour to get all of that. During that time we heard a man being wheeled in down the hall several rooms away. He was just screaming at the top of his lungs.Screaming stuff like, "AAAHHHHH OH DEAR GOD HELP ME!" he was in A LOT of pain. He was screaming so loud and so hard he sounded like the background screams of horror that you hear in the movies at one of those asylums that torture the "patients" sort of thing. It was REALLY bad, really cringe worthy. I felt bad for the guy. They either put him on a pain killer, or they full of sedated him cuz he just randomly stopped screaming. The nurse came in just after eleven, he took the IV opening out of my arm (I wasn't on a drip or anything just the hardware was still in me from getting the morphine) and put the sling on me, telling me how it should look and feel when wearing it.

We left and I was SO hungry and SO tired, that we went right to McDonald's. I had a number 9 crispy chicken meal AND an additional McChicken sandwich. I had both sandwiches almost fully finished before Jay'd even eaten all his fries. I was that damn hungry lol. Halfway through my second sandwich, Jay tells me that whenever he was on morphine and he tried to eat he always got sick. I was so hungry it took about half a second for me to think about it, shrug, and tell him it was worth it before going back to eating haha.

I'm doing better right now, but the pain is coming back again little by little. I haven't had a Vicodin in about 6 hours, I do not want to rely on it, that would be bad. But at the rate the pain is returning I will probably take one before bed so that I can actually sleep.

Jay didn't leave my side once last night. He was so worried about me, and he was very comforting he did a wonderful job to make me feel better, and help me forget about being in the ER, etc. He's so wonderful, he really took great care of me yesterday. He'd yell at me for even moving my fingers let alone my entire arm. I love him so much. He's been taking good care of me today too, making sure I'm okay and eating well, and what not. I'm very lucky to have him. And I appreciate him so much, and I'm so glad that I have him. <3

Anyway I am off for now. I'll keep you all updated on how I'm doing!

PUPPIES!

HAHA N o not really the kind that Jerry "The King" Lawler likes to scream about on Monday Night RAW, actual puppies.

Last weekend Jay agreed to look after two dogs, one belonging to his aunt and one to his cousin. His Aunt's dog is a pit bull and dalmatian mix. Her name is Camie and she's five years old. The other dog is named Elsie, and she is Camie's pup. She's 3 and so she is a dalmatian/pitbull/lab mix. But she looks nothing like her mom she looks more like a lab than a pit and the dalmatian is really hard to see in both of them.

Camie
Camie is so pretty, and she's just the BIGGEST baby is the world! They keep her locked up in their really "nice" finished off basement. It would be nice I mean, if there wasn't a ton of dog poo all over the place old and some very very moldy even. Its disgusting. It reeks down there and that poor dog! From what I understand at least, they don't play with her or love on her. It's like the lab pup Bear all over again...I miss Bear so much *sad* But this is worse. These people are grown adults. They should be taking care of her better and they should be training her properly and cleaning up that basement, ew. While we were there she didn't leave my side unless she was eating. I sat there and loved on her as much as I possibly could, I felt TERRIBLE about leaving her. She actually belongs to Jay's cousin Brian, who lives in back home in Minnesota, and was unable to bring her with. So his mom kept her but they still don't care for this poor girl. I wish that when we move back home we could bring her with and give her a proper life, but Daddy doesn't like anything that's even remotely related to a Pit, and with the Dalmatian in her, I don't know how she would be with children *sad* I really got attached to this big ol' sweetheart really fast and I only got to visit her twice!

Elsie
Elsie has it a lot better. She actually belongs to the son in law of Jay's Aunt, Adam. She is a very nervous dog, incredibly shy. She only listens to Adam, and no one else....*sly grin* ... or so they thought. Elsie listened to me very well. She responded so sweetly to me, and especially when I sat on the floor with them, she was happy and so very content to let me just sit and love on her and Camie as well.

BAWHAHAHA I love that picture!

Camie actually acts younger than Elsie, it's really funny, but Camie has so much pent up energy that it's no wonder she runs around like she's puppy stupid! LMFAO!!!

I really did fall in love with both of these girls. They're so sweet, and just want pets and snuggles. Elsie wouldn't go anywhere near Jay's mom. She's not much of a dog person, and even though she was trying to get Elsie to her, and be kind to her but she just would not go anywhere near her. But if I called, Elsie would come to me, and sit for me and all that good stuff. I missed my dog Hurc before this, but being with these girls, I miss him so much more now *sad* But he's my boy and I'll get to see him soon. I just really wish I could take Camie. It upsets me SO much that someone who doesn't deserve a dog or really care treats it this way, when here I am unable to even have a cat let alone a wonderful dog like her! RAWR

Anyway more pics of these pretty puppies!

I will say it again........

Can I Get Subtitles Please?

Alright, so lets see....

I live with my boyfriend and his mother. They are Filipino. English is a second language easily spoken by both of them. But his mother prefers to speak in Filipino. Especially when she's on the phone with her siblings. When she's on the phone it's one thing, but when she's talking to Jay in the car in front of me, or about me when i occasionally hear my name said, I would appreciate her speaking in English. Personally I feel it is rude to contribute to a conversation, in a language where one participant doesn't speak it or know what you're saying. Equally so, when you're speaking that person hear's their name. Its a bit rude to talk about someone in front of them in another language. Even if it's not something bad, even if you're just referring to them. I don't know that. All I know is that I hear my name sometimes more than once. I just feel like it's rude. Alternately I'm constantly asking Jay what they said. I feel left out, more like I don't belong. I understand it may be easier for her to use Filipino, but at the same time, its still rude. I'm trying to learn the language myself but its really difficult, especially without any consistent learning just me asking Jay what some words means.

I made a joke a few nights ago that was the reason for the title of this blog. His mom was on the phone with her sister working some plans out for us to watch their dogs. (That post will come tomorrow pictures and all.) And I heard my name once or twice and she was just babbling away. Jay was in a bad mood and so was I. I was trying to cheer us both up and I was thinking about his mom going off in Filipino and suddenly I had this thought and started giggling. I lean over to Jay while he's driving and I go. "Can I get subtitles please?" and we both just lost our minds. The whole drive I was making jokes about my subtitles being broken, first they were in French, then in German, then in Spanish. It was just hilarious. I had a big kick with it and Jay cheered up some too. *love*

But that's what people in love do for each other. They put one another at ease. They cheer each other up. I have so much love for Jay, and that's why I am going to keep trying to either lean Filipino, or learn those damn German subtitles. *love*

VANS Warped Tour Part 2 "The Event"

OH how much there is to tell today! Yesterday Jay and I got up at 7...well Jay got up at 7 because he wanted to shower before we left. I got to sleep in till 7:30 haha! Anyway, we went to leave just after 8 and realized neither of us ate breakfast, so before getting gas, we hit McDonalds. We tolerated the wait but the guy at the window must have been really new. He turned to me and asked if I had the coke order. I said no, we had two number 2's with two large OJ's. he said ok and repeated that tot he girl next to him. Then they apologized and said the OJ machine was out of order and they could either give us a refund or another thing to drink so we just got sprites. They handed us our drinks an dour food and we head back towards the freeway. While gassing up, we start eating....they got our orders wrong! They gave us overly cooked ham and egg on BOTH sandwiches ..but they were wrapped in the sausage wrappers we had ordered. WHAT THE FUCK!? I was fucking pissed. Well I don't like the egg they use OR the ham. I ordered a sausage McMuffin for a reason! So I gave Jay both sandwiches while I just grabbed a doughnut form the gas station. So we hopped on the freeway for an hour and forty minuet drive to Warped Tour.

When we got there we had to turn around because apparently there is "V.I.P" parking..whatever, we go and park, getting there just after 10. We go chill out waiting n line when we're approached by a Buddhist Monk who actually travels with Warped Tour, giving free meditation books. He gave me one, really nice guy lol. I like to meditate so I was pretty into that.

While waiting we saw a lot of characters. I saw a girl dressed like I had been this past Halloween, black and purple taffeta skirt, purple tights, black t-shirt, and big black boots. Many other people have black marker drawn all over them to look like giant Frankenstein stitches. Plenty of girls running around in short shorts and bikini tops. It was here that we spotted the first one the "WTF" outfits. Two guys came passing through the crowd as we waited to be let in. One was dressed as Santa, full suit and hat, minus the fake belly. Behind him, his buddy was dressed as an elf, in a green and red costume hat included, all of which were made of felt. It was about quarter to 11 at this point and the temperature was already 90, and it just got worse as the day went on.

Then the tour people started handing out pamphlets. The guy hands us each one and says "A message from the artists about animals." On the front is showed several artists from various bands that were preforming, and something about being a Vegan, or something like that. I think to myself, 'Alright, they're going to talk about cruelty to animals on the various farms, etc.' I flip open the pamphlet at the same time Jay does and we both instantly went "WHAT THE FUCK!?" and closed them. Inside were grotesque images of animal cruelty on the breeding farms and stuff. It was seriously NOT something I wanted to be surprisingly exposed to. As a matter of fact it kinda pissed me off, the cover or the person who handed them out should have warned there were graphic images inside. We tossed the pamphlets and moved up in line as it was now 11 and the gates were opening.

Slowly and surely the lines moved and we eventually made our way inside. They wouldn't allow any outside food and only outside beverages that were not already opened. We get in, and look around. Right away I saw a sign that made me laugh. This guy was holding up a sign that said "Don't get caught looking @ titties! Sunglasses $5!!" How great is that? We checked out the wall schedule, and headed off to go find the first band we wanted to see.

The location we were at, was a massive circle with a big hill in the middle. Three different stages were spaced out around this hill and then an area of the parking lot was fenced off for the other two stages. One of the three stages was actually an outdoor auditorium with comfy seats and what not. Technically this stage was split up into two stages. This way one bad would play while on the other end of the stage the next band would set up and they just went back and forth like that. We didn't realize this was the case at first as we could only see one sign for the stage we thought it was all one big stage. As Jay and I were just chilling in the shade here a girl in the row behind up and a few spaces over asks if we knew where the Nintendo stage was. This happened to be the "second" stage that we too were looking for and also didn't know it was right in front of us haha. She was looking for Family Force 5, which is who we were going to see too. She said if we didn't mind she's just follow us then cuz she was alone and I immediately insisted that she come and sit by me and hang out with us today.

Her name is Anna, and she is going to turn 16 in a couple of days. She was there alone because she hasn't missed an FF5 show in 3 years and her best friend who usually goes with her was unable to attend this show because of a marching band concert she had to attend. Anna's grandmother had dropped her off and insisted she call as soon as she felt over heated or anything like that. We talked for a bit then got up to go find the stage. We continued on in the circle, walking right past the sign that announced the Nintendo DS stage since we were just looking at the huge stage as one and not as two lol. We walked all the way around tot he entrance before we decided to pay the wallet raping price of $2 for a schedule that had a map on the other side. That's when we discovered the one stage was really two and we went back tot he place we started at! HAHAHA!!!

The "two" stages as one? *confused*

Alright so I'm going to be honest, the only two band at this thing I was any sort of a fan of was A Day To Remember and Set Your Goals. I had no experience with almost any of the other bands. But that's okay because I discovered a lot of great music, and after watching Family Force Five live in concert I am an immediate fan! They were so awesome I loved it! The lead singer from FF5 hopped in a blow up hamster ball and crowd surfed it was awesome!

AWESOME!!!! His dancing made me laugh my ass off too he was hilarious!

So after that we went to their signing, and I took Anna's CD and got it signed for her while she asked the lead singer if he'd text her friend who couldn't be there. He was so sweet about it too he was like "I can even call her instead if you want!" But Anna didn't know if her friend would be able to answer so he just txt her instead. All the guys were really nice too.

By this time a few hours have already passed since we had to watch a few bands before FF5 Go Radio and Big D And The Kids Table both I liked. Moving on from there we wandered around, checked out the merch stands, refilled our waters and cooled off in the sprinklers. I bought a new bracelet for fighting cancer, and then we went and got some food. Holy Hell. The food there was so fucking expensive! 9.25 for three chicken strips and a handful of fries. They're DAMN lucky the food was really good and really filling, but it still wasn't worth 9.25! Water and soda we not any better. But there were free refilling stations for cold water so we can't complain too much at least. I had very little soda making sure I stuck with water so I didn't get dehydrated. Jay had more than I did and by the time we got home last night he was suffering form heat exhaustion, my poor man. But I'll get into that later.

After we ate Anna decided to head home since she was really only there to see FF5. We walked her to the entrance where her grandmother had already arrived and was waiting to pick her up. I'm really glad we met her. I'd hate to walk around all on my own its more fun with others. Also it was safer. She's a young girl someone could hurt her, or she could have collapsed form that nasty heat. I got her FB though and added her on there, She should be accepting soon so yay for that!

After Anna left Jay and I finally decided we wanted to buy something fun. We went to the official VANS merch booth with was huge by the way, but they had a great deal going on. Women's shirts for $10, and you get your choice of a free hat or wallet too.

We went to see Enter Shikari, but I was feeling icky and we sat on the steps of the hill next to the stage. Even after sitting there listening tot he music, I was feeling really really bad then. We went back to the auditorium and sat in the shad for an hour and half. I changed out of my black tank top into my VANS shirt before we sat though and I got more ice water. The new shirt was thinner, and cooler and I felt so so so much better just sitting there, learning on Jay and listening to music up on the stage(s). I actually almost fell asleep like that, it was nice. While we both relaxed and cooled down we got to listen to Moving Mountains, Lucero, Reliant K, Larry And His Flask.

Reliant K
Half way through Larry And His Flask, we left to go off toward the main stage where Veara was playing. Jay told me they were a lot like Set Your Goals and that I'd really like them but right before they started I needed to use the rest room. So I wandered int he direction of the main stage to find it and happened upon Gym Class Heroes singing "Billionaire" and so I stopped and listened to it since that was the only song by then I really really wanted to hear. Then I went on looking, failed in my mission and went back to the Kevin Says stage where Jay was watching Veara. He was right I really did like them a lot they reminded me a lot of Set Your Goals, and they put on a great show.

We headed back to the main stage because Jay wanted a Monster. I cna't drink them too much or too often myself, they taste too much like candy for me, but we went and waited in a ten min line anyway. When we got in we expected to have to pay for the but as we walked up to the serving area, inside the Monster truck, the guy just hands drinks to us. We were surprised but hey free Monsters! We weren't allowed to leave there with the can's so we had to finish them there. Jay finished his and I gave him the last half of mine too.

Then it was back to the double stage auditorium to see The Wonder Years. Jay was a little disappointed with it, but it was still really fun to see. We sat in the lower area on the padded comfortable seats and enjoyed the whole thing from there.

Then we sat for another 15 min and watched The Aggrolites.

Set Your Goals didn't start till 7:10 wish was still 25 min off but we were really hungry again so we got more food. Once again our wallets were raped as we paid up the wazoo for food, and a sprite. And we sat in the shade and ate. We were right behind the stage we needed to be at and they were about to start so Jay went a head and I caught up with him when I was ready to get up again. I reached the stage just before they started, and in plenty of time to get hit by their water guns! Hahaha

The set was great! One of their guitarists had to rush home for a family emergency so their tour manager learned the set in like 12 hours and played to replace him. The hilarious thing is? This guy looked like a male version of the assistant manager at the store I work at. I feel a little bad about saying that able Lee, she's so sweet but it's true!

The entire set was really great, I recognized some of the songs, but others I didn't know either. Still I had a freaking BLAST! It was great, the security was getting really pissed about all the body surfing...but its not like they can do much about it either. I mean, at least that wasn't as bad as the moshing.

I made sure to get of shot of the "security" oohh scurry!

After the set, they had their signing. It was great, Jay was marking out so bad, hahaha it was funny as hell. He had bought their new CD the day it came out and that's what he had signed. But he forgot to tell them that it was becasue of them that we were at Warped because when he won the tickets he'd said that Set Your Goals was the band he was most excited to see. Oh well that's okay he still got his autograph!

The whole problem with it all though was Set Your Goals was playing at the exact same time as A Day To Remember. Jay was bummed that he had to choose but I think the choice was totally worth it! We both still had a huge blast! After that we left. All the booths were closing down and what not, only a few bands were left that we had no interest and we were both fucking exhausted.

As we were walking out of the gate, the Monster truck was there and they were handing out more free Monsters!!!

We each grabbed one before the masses caught on haha, and then headed off for the nice long walk back to the truck. The drive home was slow at first but eventually the time just flew by. We were so tired when we got home. Jay had heat exhaustion, and a heat rash on his upper back and chest and a light burn on his shoulder blades where his beater ended, otherwise he was okay. But he's never experienced any of this and had a very rough time sleeping last night. We both put on TONS of sun screen throughout the whole day and I still got badly burned. My chest, face, shoulders and the sides of my neck. Even the top tips of my ears were burned. I had to spin my cartilage hoop so the ball wasn't touching it because it hurt just to have that leaning against the burn. I'm pretty sure I had some heat exhaustion as well, but not as bad as Jay.

Today we both napped and rested and slept a lot. I made sure we both had tons of water and ate well. We needed it for sure. I'm really relieved that Jay's feeling better and most of my sun burn is already going away and I'm not peeling yet thank the gods.

That's really about it. I can't think of anything else at least to talk about. I had a blast yesterday and so did Jay! I'm so glad we got the opportunity to go to this!

If you want to check out any of the bands I've mentioned here today here some of their sites!

VANS Warped Tour Part 1

So last night I was sitting here, working on the new background for Simple Cooking, which, by the way I am so overly excited about as it is my first attempt at making a background!

Anyway!!!

Its just after 5 pm, I'm sitting here and all the sudden Jay screamed and startled the living hell out of me! He had just found out the he'd won tickets to Warped Tour for tomorrow. I didn't believe it I thought he was just yanking my chain. I got up to look at his come and there is was, on the local radio station's Face Book page, was their announcement that Jay had been one of two people to win the tickets!

Earlier in the day, they made a post that basically said "hey wanna win two Warped Tour tix for the St. Louis show? Just comment here with band you're most excited to see and we'll announce the winners at 5 pm. Jay was the second person to post and the first name announced in that bottom most post!

We spent an hour freaking out, then it hit us..... monies?

We have just enough for gas and that's about it. There won't be any souvenirs but that's alright! We'll be bringing our own food and going out to the cooler in the truck to eat a little bit, it'll be all good, no worries there. So we got all pumped up for this!

Today we went and picked up the tickets themselves.

Tomorrow... we got to WARPED TOUR!!!! I'll have a full update and pics for you all Thursday!
